Little Lake Shane grew up mostly in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula better known as the U.P. Little Lake Shane lived in several different U.P. towns including Little Lake, Michigan (December of 1976 to Spring of 1978).
As a toddler in Little Lake, Michigan, Little Lake Shane was terrified of the train that goes through there. Little Lake Shane and his parents lived in a brown A-Frame near the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad track in Little Lake. Today the train that goes through Little Lake is Canadian National.
In late Fall of 1984, Little Lake Shane outgrew his fear of trains. Ever since then, he’s been a train enthusiast. Little Lake Shane didn’t return to Little Lake until August 1, 2021. On that very day, Little Lake Shane got a Canadian National going through Little Lake on video. Because of being away from Little Lake so long, he titled his video “A Little Lake Train At Last.” Because of his experience on that August day, he eventually engaged in more rail fanning activities.

love trains thanks
Thanks for watching! I have a Union Pacific from the same town with uploading in progress.
I have almost none here in my Tinley Pk subdivision- probably because it was built just after the last cicada invasion But other parts of town they all over the place and are really loud!
I’m sorry that you don’t have cicadas near you! They are wonderful to have! Perhaps there will be cicadas in your subdivision 17 years from now. It’s great that they are in other parts of Tinley Park!
I was raised in villa Park and have family in Little lake Michigan small world
Thank You for your comment! It’s great that you were raised in Villa Park! I love your childhood village! It’s cool that you have family connections in Little Lake! Please share my Cicada music video!
It was very comforting to see how many musicians came to honor and pay tribute to Marty and all the great friendships he had with so many musicians. I miss him more and more every day. 💔
Marty was a great musician! He was an even greater man! If it wasn’t for him, many of us including myself wouldn’t be where we are at today!
@@kinkajou777 So true. He had a heart of gold.
@@sheilafahey7302 He was a very generous man! He was totally unconditional! There will never be another man like him again! In some ways, he was like Judy Garland! She was also kind and generous, and talented! Marty will never be forgotten, the rest of us will.
Looks like the DHs are running the tow.
We have talked before about Little lake...I visited there last August
One of my favorite trains/topics!
This is exactly what I was looking for to show someone
Hi Shane… where ya been lately? Hope all is well. Sheila
Hi Sheila! Thank you for reaching out to me! I have been fine! You can find me at Buddy Guy’s Legends on some Friday and Saturday nights. I have been known to pop up at Rosa’s Lounge from time to time, also. Sometimes I just hang out. I have been fine. I hope that all is well with you too.
@@kinkajou777 Good to hear from you. Great that you’re doing well. Enjoy the lovely weather ☀️
@@sheilafahey7302 Thank You!
That boat ain’t on ground do a little research before making videos he’s shoved into bank to wait either on southbound traffic or fuel or doing some maintenance. If he ran that boat aground it would stop almost instantly and them barges would be scattered.
enjoyed the video and nice job with new sub!
Thank You!!
I remember walking across it into the Missouri side, seeing countless animal skulls and bones...lol
definitely not stuck
That signature EMD sound 👍
how nett tonnage??
It's called tram
Naw just parked. Maybe waiting on a southbound , tow work or fuel barge.
I could hear what the captain said. "Well, shit."
I was waiting to see Huckleberry Finn run down the bank.
❤❤ he can't park there
Canal Barge Company! One of the Seminole boats.
Not a Seminole boat. That’s not a jeffboat. It’s a Viking boat
@@cracker6515See the English C? Google it.
They always keep a canoe handy in case their barge gets stuck.
Looks like he is holding up on the bank due to a Dredge in the river above him. The Corp of Engineers has been working overtime on the river lately digging out shipping lanes due to record low water on the Mississippi river.
Waiting for a southbound to clear and southbound has priority traffic
He is.parked?. Normal.maneuver.
That canoe was a 4 stroke.
north bound will shove into the bank when they want to hold their position
NOT STUCK........WAITING FOR TRAFFIC TO CLEAR OR MORE BARGES TO ARRIVE. COMMON THING.
If you notice in some other videos, you will see what looks like a towing boat. Parts of that barge were moved in small sections. If that’s not proof of the barge being stuck, then I don’t know what is! I was in Memphis when it happened. A Memphis couple told me that it was stuck. Apparently, they have seen that sort of thing before. I initially thought what you all were thinking. Many of you all know more about barges than me! I’m not familiar with much of the lingo. If you notice, I do trains too. I happen to enjoy barges too. I can sincerely count on you all to teach me more about barge knowledge.
@@kinkajou777 Not only do the boats push up against a bank for holding, That is the same place that barges are added or subtracted to. Examine your video and notice the propwash, something you would not see if the tow was "stuck".
He's holding up for traffic or he's holding up for tug work he's not stuck or aground
Stuck??? Parked.
No! The Mississippi River was drying up due to drought if you can tell! Look at the river. There are banks showing where the water should be but isn’t due to the drought.
@@SassyRailfan Nope, he's parked. That side is the deep part of the channel. The front barge is run up to the bank of Mud Island. He wouldn't have been driving the boat into the island if he wasn't stopping. Yes, the river was low and that may have been the reason for stopping, to let a south bound boat to pass. But, he is not stuck. If he cut the motors the river would move him off the island. Those pilots know river and have depth finders, radar, everything you need to keep going. He would not have driven the barge into the island if he didn't want to park. All the time I spent in pleasure boats on the river, I never saw a tow that was stuck. I think it was '88 the second lowest on record that my cousin and I took his boat up and down the river. We went from Mud Island [back when they would let you put in for $2.00] and went from there to McKellar Lake and all the way up to Richardson's Landing. Just below the Memphis-Arkansas bridge were old wooden barges that had sunk back in the 1800's. Arkansas had guards there and wouldn't let us park and explore. No stuck barges then.
The lead barges are against the bank!
Flanking…..
No such thing as flanking northbound.
That’s not the green bush line. That’s the Haverhill line.
The idle on the engines are too high.
The idle on the engines are too high. I doubt they can lower the idle on them.
What's up man, doin anymore Metra rides?
I’m fine, thank you! You? I ride Metra to and from downtown Chicago for work! I recently rode to and from Palatine to get together with a friend. I haven’t been doing as many videos. I have been busy. I’m a semi professional musician too.
Are u gonna do any more videos in Springfield Illinois
I hope to soon! After all, good rail fanning down there!!

How often do u railfan in Springfield because me and my friend are also railfans and it would be cool if me u and him could railfan together. But first I need to know your age I am 12 and he is 11.
I thank you and your friend for your rail fandom! I’m 49 years old! Yes, I’m an old man compared to you guys! I started liking trains when I was 11. My channel description will tell you more about it. Continue your rail fandom, Gentlemen! That’s exactly what I intend to do!
